Moving in the Rain: A Sunshine Coast Survival Guide

The Sunshine Coast does two kinds of weather on moving day: glorious, and biblical. If your date lands in storm season, the difference between a wet move and a disaster mostly comes down to what your things are packed in.

Cardboard and rain are natural enemies — a soaked box loses its strength in minutes, usually while it’s being carried. Plastic totes shrug it off: rigid walls, snap-shut lids, and contents that stay dry through a dash from the front door to the truck.

A few wet-day tactics that help regardless: stage everything close to the door before the truck arrives so the carry is short; lay towels on hard floors to stop slips; load electronics and anything precious last so they spend the least time in transit; and keep one tote as a “first night” kit — kettle, chargers, towels, dry clothes — that travels in the car with you.

And if the forecast turns truly feral, talk to us — shifting a delivery or collection day is far easier than drying out a bookshelf.
